This role will focus on designing assets and mockups for websites, apps, emails, digital ads, social content, and more. We are seeking someone who cares deeply about design and is eager to improve their skills in a collaborative environment. The Web Designer will contribute throughout the entire design cycle: brainstorming, researching, wireframing, prototyping, designing, and working with developers to turn mockups into functioning products.  The General® is a fast growing company that encourages innovative thinking and unique solutions across all departments. Responsibilities
  • Design intuitive interfaces with extreme attention to detail and a mobile first mindset. (Projects include: website enhancements, email designs, landing pages, microsites, digital ads, app screens and more.)
  • Expand upon existing template designs, UI components and style guidelines
  • Collaboration with the Digital Experiences & Marketing team to prepare designs for development and deliver detailed design specifications.
  • Working directly with developers to ensure adherence to mockups, style guidelines, and existing UI components.
  • Design supporting brand and marketing collateral (occasionally this includes printed materials like posters, t-shirts, or promotional items).
  • Manage and track your assignments and deadlines to stay ahead.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Exceptional layout, typography, and color theory skills.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Sketch.
  • Familiar with prototyping tools like UXPin and Axure.
  • Firm grasp of responsive design and mobile user interface design principles. Experience working with grid systems and responsive design frameworks (Bootstrap).
  • Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS). (Solid front-end development skills are a plus.)
  • Ability to understand and utilize user research data to inform and improve designs.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and not-so-technical people. Ability to explain why a design works or why it doesn’t.
  • Must be self-directed, confident and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work on small agile project teams
  • 3+ years of experience working in visual design, interaction design, mobile/app design, web design or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design related field.
Education Requirements
  • Relevant undergraduate degree or 3-4 years of web and user application design experience.
  • Master’s degree in related field a plus.
