Permanent General Companies, also known as 'The General®' Insurance Company as seen in national television advertisements, is a rapidly growing company and a leading non-standard auto insurance provider is currently looking for a highly driven, consumer-oriented Digital Communications Specialist to join our rapidly growing team. This position is responsible for the management of The General’s digital customer communications programs.  This position is responsible for the development and implementation of digital customer communications focused strategies across all digital communication programs such as email, SMS, push notifications and other digital communications platforms where assigned to bring the best experience to our potential and current customers in every stage of the customer lifecycle

Responsibilities Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Manage all types of digital communications programs (i.e. email, SMS, push notifications) and ensure the best possible user experience by maintaining quality contact pressure measures, targeted/relevant user content and the highest quality of message deliverables.
  • Be the company subject matter expert for email by remaining current on email marketing best practices, including delivery strategies, data capture and campaign analysis, deliverability, and CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Ensure email programs meet with regulatory compliance (CAN-SPAM) and privacy/permission policy best practices.
  • Build queries to target and schedule to specific groups based on a variety of criteria.
  • Ensure delivery by previewing communications using rendering tools and spam checking.
  • Recommend and implement testing strategies for naming conventions, subject lines, copy and offer ideas in an attempt to increase traffic, sales and other key success metrics.
  • Manage existing communications primarily based on established templates and style guides using the email tool and HTML editors.
  • Work closely with other departments (i.e., Retail, Independent Agency, Claims, Customer Service, Underwriting etc.) to develop new communications for different touch points in our policy holders’ lifecycle (i.e., customer service, claims, sales, remarketing, etc.), ensuring that their goals and needs are met.
  • Work with the Manager, Digital Experiences & Marketing to develop and execute the strategic digital communications roadmap for all digital platforms to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Maintain a communications-wide opt-in process that eliminates printed output for consumers.
  • Develop and distribute frequent analytics reporting to include customer feedback, and overall KPI metrics.  Analysis and make recommendations on enhancements to leadership based on findings.
  • Managing, reviewing and preparing weekly and monthly reports to evaluate production, profitability and growth opportunities.
  • Manage implementation and overall success of analytics tagging platforms with internal and external resources.
  • Planning, conducting and reporting on communication plans, consumer A/B and multivariate testing of digital changes.
  • Monitor customer needs and keep current on digital industry standards/trends and respond by makin adjustments to strategies.
  • Work closely with the entire Digital team and other departments within the organization to execute on cross functional initiatives.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Experience/Skills Requirements
  • The ability to take full ownership an important role in a growing company.
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience in digital marketing, digital communications or comparable marketing field.
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience with digital/platform analytics and the ability to integrate digital/platform metrics into robust reporting (Google Analytics preferred).
  • Excellent strategic and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to assess processes and implement change to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability to work constructively with developers and designers.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must possess above average interpersonal skills and have the ability to represent the company effectively in public forums and when interacting with potential partners.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Requires proficient PC and Windows skills (intermediate level of Microsoft Office applications required).
  • Proficient PC and Windows skills (advanced skills in Excel, Access, SQL, and web analytics tools).
  • Basic understanding is required of mobile platforms iOS and Android, and OS Browsers IE, Safari, Chrome, Firefox.

 Education Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree required in marketing, computer sciences or related field.
  • Master’s degree in marketing, computer sciences or related field preferred.
